Shawn Levy explains why he ditched ‘Uncharted’ to make ‘Free Guy’, with Ryan Reynolds

The director Shawn Levy explained why he decided to abandon the game adaptation ‘Uncharted‘ to do ‘Free Guy: Taking Control’, a movie that also has games as its theme.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing Uncharted, but things weren’t working out for me. The cast wasn’t working. Tom Holland was already in the cast, but we couldn’t find our Sully. It didn’t look like a real movie,” he said.

Levy revealed that the director Ruben Fleischer (‘Zumbiland’) decided to use the script he spent over a year working on, and then the studio decided to hire Mark Wahlberg to live Sully.

The director revealed that he preferred to do ‘Free Guy: Taking Control’ for having greater creative freedom in the project.

“Making a movie that takes place in the world of a game is much more liberating than adapting a specific game. My only commitment was to the world I created myself. I invented a new game”, he concluded.

Remembering that the feature debut in August 13 in national cinemas.
